He then attended law school at Columbia University in New York City, from which he received an LL.B. degree in 1959. Later he attended graduate school at New York University, New York City, from which he received an LL.M. degree in taxation in 1968.
He served in the United States Air Force (Judge Advocate General Corps) on active duty from 1959-1962, and received an honorable discharge with the rank of Captain. He then joined the United States Naval Reserve (Judge Advocate General Corps) in which he served from 1962-1983, at which time he retired with the rank of Commander.
From 1965-1968 he served as a Staff Attorney in the Office of Counsel, Internal Revenue Service. Since then he has been engaged in the private practice of law in Cleveland. Approximately 75% of the firm's practice consists in assisting clients who have tax problems, primarily those resulting from being delinquent in the payment of federal, state, municipal and (in the case of businesses), payroll taxes, including workers' compensation and unemployment compensation premiums. The balance of the practice concerns itself with debt disputes and settlements and protection of assets from creditors' claims.
He was a Lecturer at the Rutgers University School of Law, Newark, New Jersey during the 1962-1963 academic year, and was a Lecturer in Government Contract Law from 1983-1986 for the United States General Services Administration.
He is a contributor to the University of California-Los Angeles Law Review, the New York University Tax Institute Proceedings, and the Journal of Taxation. less
