NADRA Birth Certificate: A Global Service for Overseas Pakistan

  • The NADRA Birth Certificate is a civil registration document issued in Pakistan, with registration services extended to overseas Pakistani communities in the United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Canada, and Australia. Registration is administered locally through Union Councils, in accordance with the NADRA Ordinance 2000 and, in Punjab, the 2025 Local Government Rules. NADRA maintains the centralized digital infrastructure, while local authorities carry out initial registration. Overseas applicants typically complete the process remotely through a legal representative, without travel.

The Computerized Birth Certificate (CRC) is the digitized, NADRA-synchronized version of this record, required for passport issuance and school enrollment; the older manual certificate is not accepted for most official purposes as of 2026.

Under 2026 rules, registrations for children over seven require Deputy Director approval, while those aged 10–18 need a Juvenile Card. Home births without hospital slips may use a Midwife Affidavit instead.

Law of Lawyers, a Lahore-based legal firm, is among the private firms offering facilitation services — including affidavit preparation, Union Council coordination, and NADRA record synchronization — particularly for late registrations, disputed records, and cases involving deceased parents.
