Hoffer & Sheremet is a boutique Michigan medical malpractice and legal malpractice law firm.
Keeping our focus narrow allows us to truly be and stay experts in the law and procedure for these types of cases. We take a limited number of medical and legal malpractice cases each year and intensely focus on those cases. This allows us to stay small and offer personalized representation to each of our clients. This personalized, individual attention allows us to determine the best strategy for each particular case.

Within the medical malpractice realm, we particularly specialize in representing injured babies and children. Birth injuries such as hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy and cerebral palsy can be devastating. We understand that your time and focus needs to be on taking care of your child. In fact, Hoffer & Sheremet is the only women owned and operated Grand Rapids Law Firm that exclusively practices medical malpractice and legal malpractice. Many women, especially those that have suffered obstetrical or gynecological injury are more comfortable talking about these injuries with women attorneys. We also find that wives and mothers whose spouse or child has died are also more comfortable with women lawyers.

At Hoffer & Sheremet, our focus is on family. And when a family member dies because of medical malpractice, it is devastating for those left behind. The family has a right to sue the hospital, doctors, nurses, or other healthcare providers that caused the death. This is called a wrongful death lawsuit. We are one of the only Michigan law firms that has successfully pursued wrongful death litigation on behalf of newborns, and babies that died before they were actually born.
Michigan Legal Malpractice Lawyers
There are not many lawyers in Michigan that sue other lawyers. But we feel it is our obligation to the profession. In fact, we literally wrote the book (chapter) on legal malpractice in Michigan for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education to help teach other lawyers how to be legal malpractice attorneys! Most attorneys that make a mistake are honest with their clients, advise them to seek a legal malpractice lawyer, and are willing to compensate the client for any financial injury caused. But sometimes, either the lawyer doesn't think they were negligent or they just don't want to pay - lawsuits are one way to hold negligent lawyers accountable.
