About Me
Kathleen Anderson is Board Certified in Criminal Law and Family Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Becoming Board Certified involves a strenuous application process, including, demonstrating years in practice, extensive trial and appellate experience, experience in dispute resolution, and positive judicial and peer reviews. If the application to sit for the Boards is granted, the applicant must pass an extensive six-hour exam. A small percentage of attorneys are successful in their attempt to become Board Certified. Only 1% of Texas attorneys are board certified in two or more areas. Kathleen Anderson is part of this small percentage of attorneys.
Kathleen and Alex Anderson work as team as criminal defense attorneys. As a team, Kathleen and Alex offer experience and perspective that cannot be achieved from just one attorney. Kathleen Anderson became Board Certified in Criminal Law in 2002 when she was a prosecutor for the Bastrop County District Attorney's Office. She became Board Certified in Family Law in 2005 after going into private practice. Before becoming a defense attorney, Kathleen was a career prosecutor. She was also a prosecutor for the Bastrop County District Attorney's Office. Kathleen has tried before a jury all degrees of felonies, including capital murder. Kathleen has never lost a jury-trial.
Kathleen's background as a prosecutor gives her a distinct and strategic advantage as a defense attorney. She knows how prosecutors operate. Kathleen has been practicing in Bastrop County for 16 out of her 22 years as an attorney and is very familiar with how our judges and local attorneys operate. Alex graduated from Bastrop High School and received a B.A. from the University of Texas. He received his law degree from Saint Mary’s University in 2013. Alex Anderson, a third generation attorney, has extensive experience working for the firm despite being a young attorney. Alex represents clients facing criminal charges and represents parents, grandparents, and children in cases involving The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, which is known as CPS. Alex can also focuses on DWI representation and obtaining Occupational Licenses for clients.
