About Me
Mr. Matson is a lifelong Bay Area native. He was born and raised in San Jose (like the song), where he began his legal career in a San Jose law firm specializing in real estate and construction litigation. He relocated to the East Bay where he began the Matson Law Firm in 1995 specializing in real estate, construction, and insurance matters.
Mr. Matson now makes his home in the East Bay where he and his wife Carol Hoffman, also a lawyer (specializing in estate planning), are enjoying their newly empty nest in the Berkeley Hills.
When he is not working, Mr. Matson enjoys keeping up with and writing about developments in law and politics, and has published articles in the San Francisco Chronicle and the LA/SF Daily Journal (the statewide daily newspaper for the California legal community).
Mr. Matson received his legal education at the University of California, Berkeley, earning his Juris Doctorate degree in 1985. He earned his undergraduate degree (in Political Science) at the University of California, Los Angeles in 1982.
