About Me
When Les Brock began his legal career, he made a deliberate choice to work for a defense firm. This decision would indeed shape his future, but not in the way he originally expected.
Like many, Les initially believed that there was too much litigation, especially in the realm of tort law, and he wanted to help curb what he saw as frivolous claims. By joining a defense firm, he felt he was taking the high road, while also gaining valuable trial experience early on by defending corporations that faced frequent lawsuits. This part of his plan worked—Les found himself representing multinational insurers and corporate clients in front of juries in both state and federal courts across Virginia, even as a young lawyer.
However, after years of defending large corporations, Les had a realization: the issue wasn’t too much tort litigation, but rather, too many torts being committed. While many companies operate with integrity, there are others that view harming individuals or damaging other businesses as just another cost of doing business. "When you represent large corporations, especially insurance companies, they expect you to handle every case—good or bad. I became tired of defending faceless corporations that prioritized saving money over doing what was right," he explains.
After more than a decade of trial experience, Les decided it was time to start his own firm. His focus shifted toward helping individuals and businesses in his community who had been wronged or injured by others. Now, his practice centers on holding people and companies accountable in personal injury, tort litigation, and commercial disputes. "Having a community-based practice is incredibly important to me," he says. "I love helping local people and businesses navigate significant legal challenges."
Les earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Georgia and his law degree from Washington and Lee University School of Law. After law school, he served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable A. Christian Compton, Senior Justice on the Supreme Court of Virginia.
