About Me
Ed has been a personal injury lawyer for more than 25 years. He spent the early part of his career practicing criminal law, including service as a Senior Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney in Virginia Beach, where he handled serious criminal prosecutions, including homicide. Ed especially loves the courtroom and knew, early on, that he wanted his work to be in litigation. He sought out prosecution – at least in part – for that reason. Trying personal injury cases in front of juries is his passion and he has had a history of success for his clients.
A will (also known as a last will or last will and testament) is a legal document that specifies which beneficiary receives what assets after the original owner’s death. Legal templates exist to do this online, but an improperly drawn-up will can be challenged and overturned in court. When someone has specific bequests to make, it’s far better to have a legal will than hope that things will fall into place after their death.
A trust is an important estate planning tool and can be done in conjunction with a will. While they have the same foundational goals of protecting assets and ensuring they’re correctly bestowed on the designated beneficiaries, they have different methods to accomplish that.
