Fall of New Jersey Family Law – Child Custody, Protection and Support, a unique Family Law treatise widely relied upon by the Judiciary. In the Matter of Adoption of a Child by JEV & DGV, __ N.J. __ (2016), decided July 26, 2016, Chief Justice Rabner, cited twice to Fall & Romanowski, in writing for a unanimous New Jersey Supreme Court.
Later, in 2017, On August 8, 2017, in the New Jersey Supreme Court in Bisbing v. Bisbing, __ N.J. __ (2017), Justice Anne Patterson delivered a landmark opinion for the Court, also citing to Fall & Romanowski no less than three times, addressing the showing necessary to establish “cause” under N.J.S.A. 9:2–2 for the entry of an order authorizing a parent to relocate out of state with a child, despite the other parent’s opposition to the child’s move. His treatise is cited as authoritative in Family Law over 300 times in the Rules Governing The Courts of the State of New Jersey.
In her Foreword to this Volume, Interestingly, in her Foreword to the 2015 Edition of Fall & Romanowski, New Jersey Family Law, Relationships Involving Children (later editions “Child Custody, Protection & Support”) (Gann), Justice Virginia A. Long, Associate Justice and Family Law icon Virginia A. Long stated:
“And yet we know that, unless and until family issues are declared as inappropriate for the litigation model, difficult parent-child litigation will continue to exist.”
“It is because of that reality that this book is still welcome. Written by the dean of family court judges, Robert Fall, and a leader of the matrimonial bar, Curtis Romanowski, the book addresses every single relevant issue touching on relationships involving children… What is important is that the subject of this book will be influenced by advances in the physical and social sciences, and modulation of societal attitudes and social mores. It is because of these outside pressures, to which Judge Fall and Mr. Romanowski are uniquely attuned, that this volume will continue to be a work in progress.”
