About Us:
Michael has been practicing in the District of Columbia and Maryland for over 20 years. Michael holds a Juris Doctor cum laude from the American University Washington College of Law (1997), where he served as an Articles Editor on the Editorial Board of The American University Law Review.
He was a Dean’s Fellow for Associate Dean and Professor Jamin Raskin (currently a Member of the United States House of Representatives), a Judicial Intern for the Honorable Charles R. Richey in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, a Legal Intern for the United States Attorney’s Office of the District of Columbia, as well as a Legal Intern for the District of Columbia Office of Corporation Counsel.
Michael also earned his LL.M. in Securities and Financial Regulation from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2001, where he wrote his Master’s Thesis on insider trading.
After graduating law school, Michael served as law clerk to the Honorable Judge John H. Bayly of the District of Columbia Superior Court from 1997-1998, clerking for Judge Bayly who was hearing criminal matters.
After clerking for Judge Bayly and while earning his LL.M. at Georgetown, Michael served as an Attorney-Advisor in the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Office of Administrative Law Judges from 1998-2000. Until he decided to form The Law Office of Michael A. Troy PLLC in 2010, Michael worked at two AM LAW 100 firms. Michael is admitted to appear before all state courts in Maryland and in the District of Columbia.
