He then served five years in the United States Army from 1968-73 and is a decorated veteran of the Viet Nam war. After resigning his commission as a Captain in the Army, Jim attended and graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with a J.D. in 1976. He is admitted to the bars of the State of Connecticut, U.S. District Court, District of Connecticut and U.S. Court of Appeals, Second Circuit. Jim is a member of: the Hartford County Bar Association; Co-Chair, Legal-Medical Committee, 1999-2001; formerly of the Connecticut Bar Association; Member, Committee on Professional Ethics, 1982-83; Defense Research and Trial Lawyers Association; and Connecticut Defense Attorneys Association.
