Another charge that has terrible consequences is that of domestic violence. Domestic violence itself is a horrible action and it makes sense that the law has strong checks and balances in place in order to help support victims of domestic violence. Unfortunately, those same checks and balances that support victims can be incredibly detrimental to those who are wrongfully accused of domestic violence. Some individuals accuse their partners of domestic violence as a way of hurting them. Later, after they have calmed down and changed their minds, they don’t have the power to rescind the charges.
