(“Pete”) Wellborn III's entrepreneurial spirit got the best of him. On April 2, 2001 – his 37th birthday – he founded The Wellborn Firm, LLC. That firm expanded soon thereafter with the addition of fellow Georgia Tech alum Kelly Wallace and big firm veteran Jamie Woodard to become Wellborn, Wallace & Woodard, LLC (the “Firm”).
The Firm’s guiding principle is the idea that attorney-Client relationships should be based upon people, not institutions, and that, especially in this age of automation and technology, it is the skill of the attorney, not the number of attorneys, that matters. The Firm's Clients run the gamut from corporate giants to start-ups and individuals, and its practice areas include litigation and a wide array of corporate, transactional, and IP-related services.
The Firm’s victories have been featured in/on the Wall Street Journal, Boardwatch magazine, CNN, 60 Minutes II, Newsday, NPR, and numerous other media outlets. In 2004, Wellborn was named one of the top ten attorneys in the United States by Lawyers’ Weekly. Wellborn has also been recognized as an “Elite Attorney” by Georgia Trend magazine and a “SuperLawyer” by Atlanta Magazine. Since its founding in 2001, the Firm has obtained more than ten billion dollars in judgments for its Clients. less
